Upon graduating from the Superior Maidcraft Academy, the graduating men had to bow their heads, close their eyes, and recite the following oath.
“I, [Name], do solemnly swear to serve my mistress with faithfulness and respect.
I shall keep my person and attire in proper order — my dress neat, my apron clean, my shoes polished, my hair in fitting style — that I may present myself worthy of her household.
I shall obey my mistress’s commands without question, perform my duties with diligence and good will, and uphold the honour and harmony of this home.
So do I vow, before God and in good conscience, to do my very best each day."
